Don The Armour

About

The spiritual war that is raging around us has never been more apparent than it is now, and yet, the modern church has become sleepy and complacent in the world. This site aims to wake Christians with exhortations to put on their spiritual armour and pursue holiness. By looking to the scriptures, the old writings of the Puritans, and above all, our Lord Jesus Christ, we can beat the war drum in the march against sin, Satan, and wickedness. Ours is not an age for whispers and murmurs against unrighteousness but for battle cries.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)

The Christian’s armour is made to be worn; no laying down, or putting off our armour, till we have done our warfare, and finished our course. Our armour and our garment of flesh go off together; then, indeed, will be no need of watch and ward, shield or helmet. Those military duties and field-graces — as I may call faith, hope, and the rest — shall be honourably discharged. In heaven we shall appear, not in armour, but in robes of glory. But here these are to be worn night and day; we must walk, work, and sleep in them, or else we are not true soldiers of Christ.
