For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source.

Hebrews 2:10-11 (ESV)

---

This verse ties together many of the themes of the last several posts. “For whom and by whom all things exist” - Jesus created the universe and did so for his own glory. The chief end of all things is the glory of God, the creator. Then the author goes on to explain the unity of Christ and believers. He came to earth and was tempted, suffered, and died, as we will all be tempted, suffer, and eventually die. And since Jesus rose from the dead, we know that those who are in him will also be raised to enjoy eternal life with him. This union demonstrates the most pure and true love there is. To me, it is the definition of love; two people becoming one, sharing in both suffering and joy, as Christ has done with us.
