Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

2 Timothy 2:3-4 (ESV)

Sometimes people get so invested in politics because there is nothing they can do about it. It gives them the ability to virtue signal, then say, “But what can you do?” With politics, you aren’t expected to do anything because everyone knows you can’t change these massive geopolitical systems yourself. At the most, you’ll complain on Facebook and drop a ballot in a box every couple of years.

But what about improving yourself, working on your relationship with Jesus, and telling others about Him? Those are things you can do, even if they are difficult. Bringing just one person to Christ would likely do more good for the world than a lifetime of political activism would.

Don’t jump over the hard but doable things for the impossible. And consider who it is that you are aiming to please. You’re in the middle of your mission field every day, so get out there and get after it!
