For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

1 Peter 2:19-21 (ESV)

How much are Christians willing to suffer today for Christ, especially in the US? In many ways, it’s the most challenging place in the world to be a Christian because we are so comfortable. John Piper once described America as the “Disneyland of the world.” Fortunately we aren’t facing a threat of violence for standing for our beliefs (yet), but many professors still aren’t willing to defend God’s Word out of fear of losing some of their comforts. These comforts of the world are only going to become more enticing, and the culture is only going to get more hostile towards Christians. We have to be courageous and speak the truth, regardless of the consequences.
