For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup with foaming wine, well mixed, and he pours out from it, and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it down to the dregs.

Reading the Old Testament helps us comprehend the holy terror of God’s wrath. Seeing his anger revealed in these stories and realizing it is righteous and justified leaves us with a greater appreciation for the gospel. When Jesus went to the cross, he took on all of God’s wrath against sinful mankind at once. He drank the cup to the dregs, so we don’t have to. You and I should be nailed to that tree, but God loves us enough to offer his own son in our place. Those who refuse to accept his incredible sacrifice will spend eternity drinking from this cup. Read the scriptures, pray, and meditate until the weight of this penetrates your heart and pushes you to action – to dedicating your life to glorifying God for his mercy and sharing the gospel message with those heading toward that awful fate.
