What warlike preparation do they make against Satan, who lies between them and home? where are their arms? where their skill to use them, their resolution to stand to them, and conscionable care to exercise themselves daily in the use of them? Alas, this is a rarity indeed, not to be found in every house where the profession of religion is hanged out at the door. If woulding and wishing will bring them to heaven, then they may come thither; but as for this wresting and fighting, this making religion our business, they are as far from these as at last they are like to be from heaven.

Christians are not called to a life of passive meandering but one of courage, determination, and holy violence in their duties (Mat. 11:12)! As such, we must wrestle with our enemy (Eph. 6:12), not simply grumble about him.
We live in a time and place where it’s easy to become content and float downstream with the rest of the world, but this stream surely leads to hell. If you aren’t going against the stream of our culture, you have likely made peace with the enemy. Wake up; you’re at war! We must walk the narrow path riddled with enemies, trials, and afflictions, so put on your armour, take up your sword, keep your feet on the course, and be bold for the Lord!
